Summary
Manual processes are a designer’s worst nightmare, and for Neumetric, they were a business problem. Compliance services were being managed through a messy combination of Google Docs, emails, and spreadsheets, creating a fragmented and confusing experience. My job was to take that chaos and build a unified, scalable, and intuitive cybersecurity SaaS ecosystem.

My Process
The UX Audit:
I started by shadowing consultants and auditors to map out the real-world workflow and identify pain points and opportunities for automation
System Architecture:
I designed the product architecture from scratch, creating the wireframes, sitemaps, and workflow diagrams that became the blueprint for the entire seven-module ecosystem.
Design & Strategy:
I built a responsive design system from scratch to ensure consistency across all modules and designed custom visualizations for key metrics and risk data.
User Validation:
I tested and validated the user flows to ensure the new system was intuitive and reduced cognitive load, leading to a streamlined user experience.
Design Solutions:
-
Modular task flow design: Each module had step-by-step guidance
-
Master dashboard: Cross-module visibility for status and risk
-
Custom chart system: Created accessible, responsive stat displays (risk matrices, checklist progress, audit readiness)
-
Design system built from scratch:
-
Components for cards, modals, tables, inputs
-
Tokens for spacing, color, and type
-
Responsive grid and states (hover, disabled, error, etc.)
-
Accessible contrast ratios and touch targets

Evolution

1. The Old Process
Sitting with the compliance consultants, the first thing that struck me wasn't the volume of work — it was how much of it didn't need to be done by a human at all. The same data was being manually copied from a Google Doc into a spreadsheet, then reformatted into a PowerPoint for reporting. Three tools, three formats, one piece of information — typed out by hand each time. That observation became the foundation of everything: if we could close those gaps, we wouldn't just make the work faster, we'd remove entire categories of error.

2. Design System
With seven modules to design, the biggest risk wasn't getting one screen wrong — it was inconsistency across the entire platform. A compliance officer moving from the audit module to the risk module shouldn't have to relearn the interface. So before designing a single final screen, I built the design system first. Every component, token, and state defined upfront. It meant slower starts but it made everything that followed faster, consistent, and scalable.

3. Final Design
The final product replaced three disconnected tools with one unified ecosystem. But the real measure wasn't visual — it was whether a compliance officer could complete their work without switching context, chasing information, or reformatting data. The answer, after testing, was yes. The platform reduced compliance task time by 75% and cut associated costs by 40%.
